About the temple Naimisaranyam (Part 2)

The forest of Naimisharanya is the aranya svarupa or forest manifestation of Lord Vishnu, and is therefore considered a sacred tirtha. Over the ages, it is said that more than 60,000 sages (ज्ञानी)  have lived in Naimisharanya forest (aranya means 'forest'). Today the place is commonly known as Nimsar, a village on the bank of the River Gomti in Uttar Pradesh. Located about 100 km. from Lucknow, Naimisharanya continues to be an important place of pilgrimage for devotees, who go there to glorify the crown jewel of Vaisnava literature, the Srimad-Bhagavatam. The Bhagavatam was recited by Suta Goswami at the beginning of this Kali yuga, after the battle of Kurukshetra. 33,000 sages headed by Saunaka Rishi received the Bhagavatam directly from Sri Suta Goswami here.

i wend to there five times and each journey was lucky for me....................like a new day.......................

About the temple Naimisaranyam (Part 1)

Naimisaranyam is situated in Sitapur district in UP. It is about 100 km from lko. This (on 25/12/2010)  was the 4th time i went to there. Naimisaranya is also known as "Nimsar" or "Nimkhar" and is located on the left bank of the river Gomati.

In the old age, all the Maha Rishis along with Sownakar went towards Brahma devan and asked him which is the best place suited for doing Yagam and tapas. As the answer, Brahma devan took a dharbai grass and made it as a wheel shape and rolled the dharbai grass. Brahma devar said after he rolls the grass, the place where it stopped is said to be the ideal place for doing tapas and yagam. He rolled the wheel and it stops at a particular place in the Earth and that place is said to the place which is called as "Naimisaranyam".
